被譽為流行音樂天皇的美國歌手麥可·傑克遜（Michael Jackson）於6月25日在美國洛杉磯一家醫院（Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center）被宣告死亡。死因是心臟病發作導致心臟停搏。
在接到來自傑克遜寓所的求救電話後，救援小組迅速趕往傑克遜家中，經過心臟復甦術後送往醫院。在當地時間下午6:26，麥可·傑克遜被宣告死亡。眾多歌迷和當地居民聚集在傑克遜住所或醫院周圍，表達對這位流行音樂天皇的哀思。
很多明星也對此事作出回應，Miley Cyrus、 John Mayer、Lindsay Lohan，以及Ashton Kutcher等等都通過不同方式表示了哀思。MC Hammer更新twitter表示："I have no words... I loved Michael Jackson... RIP..."（「我說不出一個字……我愛麥可·傑克遜……願他安息……」）
